Can tasks be auto-renumbered?

I'm running into an issue where I need to build sub-tasks and am finding out that I'm going to have to get all the subsequent tasks renumbered. Is there a way to make this happen? In MS Project, all you have to do is "insert" rows to insert tasks and the rest of the tasks below are renumbered.

Can finish date be automated

Looks like both start date and finish date have to eb entered manually. If I enter resources and time required, can the finish date be 'computed', ie, If start date is August 3 and the task requires 16 hours, and 1 person will work on the task, the finish date should default to August 4.

Can Tasks be Renumbered

Hello -

I am trying to renumber the tasks on a project to help show prioritization, but I keep running into messages saying that tasks with that number have already been created. Is there anyway to renumber these tasks after they have initially been entered into the system?

When I add tasks, they are added to incomplete tasks latest task first. Normally one wnats to see a project plan from first task on top to last task on bottom. Can ACEProject be set up to show tasks in order of execution?

It would be great if, after completing entry for one task, there was an option to "create another task for the same project" rather than returning to the My Tasks Screen.

Curious if there is a way and I just don't know about it.

I am trying to import a CSV file but I am getting an error about the maxim numbers of tasks (500) has been reached, however, this project has only about 270 tasks.

Does it mean that the max amount of taxes in all the projects is 500?

Overdue and Soon Due Task Report

I cannot find any documentation on this seemingly automatically generated email report which shows up on random days. This report is not listed as one of the "10 occasions the system sends emails on" in the help for email notifications. How is it generated and is there any way to customize it? I'd like it to come out once a week with all overdue tasks listed, instead of just the most recent. Thank you!

adding detail to task

I am using a mac and am having no problems with inputting data onto the system apart from not being able to actually write anything in the details box in the task edit window. My colleague who is using a pc seems to be able to do this and now I have found that I cannot write a comment on her task input either. help!

Prevent time charged to completed task

I have an issue with resources being able to charge time to a completed tasks (greyed-out). Is there a way to stop tasks from showing in the drop down list when charging time? I am running reports via Microsoft Access and it is causing hours to be dropped from my queries...Any help will be much appreciated...

Repeating Tasks

Is there a way to set a particular task so it repeats periodically (e.g. weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.). For example, if I want to have a status update meeting every two-weeks, or have to write status reports every month, can I create a single task that will repeat?

Is there a way to create a Task without having to create a Project?

Before deleting a task, you must first delete:

Its file attachments
Any time sheet that refers to the task
Any dependency that links the task with another one

HINT: You can set a task's status to completed instead of deleting it.

Can I set task dependencies?

Yes. AceProject has a task dependency feature. The "Finish-To-Start" dependency type is the only one supported at this moment. This means that a task can only start when its predecessor is completed. Moveover, lag time can be set along with the dependency in order to respect constraints.

What is a reviewer?

When a task is created, it is usually assigned to one or multiple users to execute it. Once the users have completed the task, a team leader or a manager can be asked to verify the work the assigned users have done. This is when the reviewer comes in.

Is there any possibility to attach files to a particular task (ie. Word docs, pdf, jpg, gif, etc.)?

Yes. AceProject allows files such as screenshots, images and text documents to be attached to tasks. The attached files provide users with a better description of the specific task. There are no restrictions for file types. Here's the procedure to attach a file to a task:

Open a task.
Click the "Documents" Tab.
Click the "Browse..." button to reach the file. You can also add a comment and a version number along with the document. You may also make it public or private.
Click the "Upload Document " button to upload the document to our servers.

Note that up to 15 documents can be uploaded simultaneously.

Can I create sub-tasks?

AceProject has no sub-task feature at this moment. However, there are many ways to simulate them. For example:

You can use decimal task numbers to group tasks (ex: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3)
You can use "Task groups" and "Task Types" to categorize tasks within a project.
Major tasks could be set as projects, and sub-tasks as tasks.

Can project and task numbers be auto-generated?

Task numbers are generated automatically. The "Next Task Number", which is set in the "Edit Project Information" page, is the number the next task to be created within the project will be given. This number is incremented automatically every time a new task is created.

However, project numbers cannot be auto-generated because the field is an alphanumeric one. Every time a project is created, its number must be entered manually.
